Alesia is the Senior Volunteer Programs Director a the Council on Aging of West Florida. As such, she and her staff oversee the CNCS Programs: Foster Grandparent (FGPs) and Senior Companion (SCPs) as well as the state funded RELIEF (Respite for Elders Living In Everyday Families) programs.
Alesia is a Pensacola native who is very involved in the community, having graduated from the University of West Florida with a BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. She is pursuing an MA in Counseling from Troy State, an MA in College Student Affairs Administration from UWF and is supportive of the West Florida High School Athletics Department, Waterfront Rescue Mission, Emerald Coastkeepers, the United Way Reading Pals Program and several other nonprofit organizations.
Previously, Alesia worked at the University of West Florida for more than 15 years in a variety of functions, including financial aid, student programming, marketing and communications, customer service, alumni relations and community outreach. Alesia is a consummate professional with a keen ability to institute programs and facilitate growth. Her colleagues can also attest to her team spirit and optimistic attitude.
Sharon grew up in East Tennessee and obtained a BS in Zoology from the University of TN, Knoxville. After graduation, Sharon completed two years of AmeriCorps service. The second year was served in a water quality focused program in Atlanta, GA, which then led to her career of 20 years in environmental education.
In 2017, Sharon and her husband moved to the Orlando area with their two dogs and four cats. In January of 2019 Sharon accepted the position of RSVP volunteer coordinator with a small nonprofit called Volunteers for Community Impact.
Volunteerism and service have always been a big part of Sharon's personal life and career and she finds working with the seniors through RSVP to be rewarding beyond measure. Her success in growing and improving her program is through the strong personal relationships she develops with her volunteers and stations.
Margaret Baugher is the Director of FGP of SWFL/RSVP Lee County for Dr. Piper Center. Margaret received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Recreational Therapy at the University of Findlay.
Her involvement with senior services started in NJ where she was an Activities Director for 15 years in a nursing facility and continued her involvement in the field at Senior Friendship Centers.
She has been a part of RSVP in Lee County, FL, for 18 years and Director of the program for 13 years including this last year at Dr. Piper Center.
Kathleen Stacey is the Director of AmeriCorps Seniors/Volunteer United of United Way of Martin County, where she channels her passion for community service into meaningful action. Her previous experience includes VP of Finance/HR for a manufacturing company and owning a restaurant for many years. Firmly believing that there’s a perfect place for everyone to volunteer, she champions the spirit of giving back, creating opportunities for individuals to connect, grow and thrive within their communities.
Michelle is the RSVP Polk Coordinator for the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. A Polk County native, Michelle holds a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from Louisiana State University.
In 2017, she renewed her CVA (Certified Volunteer Administrator) credential from the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration by demonstrating she has a clear philosophy of volunteer administration, pledges to work within a professional code of ethics, and demonstrates her clear knowledge-in-use in the core competency areas of organizational management, human resource management, accountability, leadership, and advocacy.
She has over 20 years of experience in volunteer management and 40 years of experience as a volunteer. Michelle is serving her second term as Secretary on the Better Living for Seniors Polk board and serves as a member of the BLFS Polk Education subcommittee.
Cheryl Freeman, RSVP of St. Johns County Director for the last 20 years, is the Past President of Florida Senior Corps Association. In addition to being totally dedicated to RSVP volunteers and volunteers in the St. Johns County School District, she enjoys (safe) travels and spending time with family. She has been married for 35 years, and has 2 grown children - one living in California, and one living in Texas. For her volunteer time, Cheryl enjoys taking part in her Church's Children's Ministry, and is also a board member of Ability Tree First Coast, a not-for-profit organization that supports families with special needs.
Tyla Osborne is a vibrant giver who serves as the Senior Volunteer Coordinator for the Senior Companion Program at the Council on Aging of West Florida in Pensacola, Fl. She oversees more than 30 AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion volunteers who serve roughly 100 older adults. She also serves on the Senior Volunteer Programs Advisory Council and the AmeriCorps Seniors Senior Companion 50th Celebration Committee. In her spare time, she sings for local community walks, baseball and hockey games and other local events, bakes, volunteers her time in the children’s ministry and volunteers to help the local homeless populations.
